Solar Has Changed. So Should the Way It's Designed.
Over the past decade, solar technology has moved on dramatically.
Today's high-efficiency panels generate more electricity, even in lower light, while battery storage and smart monitoring help you make the most of every kilowatt.
But the biggest difference isn’t the technology —
it's the design behind the system.
That’s why we start every project by understanding your property, your energy usage and your future plans. The result is a system that's built around you, not a one-size-fits-all package.
Higher Efficiency
Generate more power in a wide range of conditions.
Smarter Systems
Seamless integration with batteries and EVs.
Future Ready
Scalable solutions that grow with your needs.
Better Performance
Designed for long-term reliability and savings.

Frequently Asked Solar Questions
No. When installed correctly by experienced professionals, solar panels should not damage your roof.
Before installation, we inspect your roof to ensure it's suitable. We use approved mounting systems
designed specifically for your roof type and installed in accordance with manufacturer guidance. If we
identify any concerns about the condition of your roof, we'll discuss them with you before proceeding.
A typical solar panel system adds approximately 15–20kg per square metre, depending on the panels
and mounting system used.
Most modern roofs are designed to support considerably greater loads than this, including snow and
wind. As part of our survey, we'll assess your roof's suitability and advise if any further structural
assessment is recommended.
Yes. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight rather than direct sunshine, so they continue producing energy even on overcast days.
Generation will naturally be higher during bright, sunny weather, but modern panels still perform well throughout the year, making them well suited to the UK climate.
Yes. In many cases, installing panels across multiple roof elevations can improve the way your system generates electricity throughout the day.
For example, east-facing panels generate more electricity during the morning, while west-facing panels continue producing later into the afternoon and evening.
During your survey, we'll assess every suitable roof area and recommend the layout that provides the best overall performance for your home.
Premium solar panels are designed to operate for decades and typically come with long-term product and performance warranties. The panels we install include a 25-year product warranty, often paired with a 30-year linear performance warranty, ensuring minimal power degradation over their lifetime.
Home batteries are also designed for long service lives and are supplied with comprehensive manufacturer warranties. The batteries we install are rated for at least 6,500 charge and discharge cycles, providing many years of reliable operation when correctly used.
During your consultation, we'll explain the warranties provided with your chosen equipment so you know exactly what's covered.
Modern solar systems are designed to be highly reliable.
If a fault does occur, monitoring software can often identify the issue quickly, allowing us to investigate and advise on the most appropriate solution. The equipment supplied is also covered by manufacturer warranties for added peace of mind. If you have any issues, just reach out to Shine Solar and we will advise or visit the property to get you back up and running. We also remotely monitor your system output and will, on occasion, notify you of any changes that may have occurred with your system.
Yes.
Our systems include a monitoring app that allows you to view your electricity generation, battery performance (where installed) and energy usage from your smartphone or tablet. It will also let you know how much energy your property is consuming, what the production from the panels is, how much charge is going to the battery and how much you are exporting to the grid in real time.
We'll show you how to use the app during your handover.
Solar panels are generally self-cleaning, with rainfall removing most dirt and debris.
However, in some situations — such as heavy bird activity, nearby trees or excessive debris - occasional cleaning may help maintain optimum performance.
We'll advise whether cleaning is likely to be beneficial for your property.
Your energy requirements may change over time, for example if you purchase an electric vehicle, install a heat pump, extend your home or your household grows.
Many solar and battery systems can be expanded in the future, depending on the available roof space, inverter capacity and the products installed.
If future expansion is something you're considering, we'll take this into account when designing your system.
If you're planning to move in the very near future, we'll discuss whether installing solar is the right decision.
For many homeowners, solar panels can make a property more attractive to buyers, but every situation is different. Our advice will always be based on what is right for you.
